The third annual Classics in Wales Teachers’ Conference will be held at Swansea University Bay Campus on Saturday 3rd March. This event is designed to bring together teachers and  researchers of Classics at all levels to share ideas and innovative teaching methods. The programme this year focuses on the demands of the new OCR specifications for Ancient History and Classical Civilisation; as well as speakers from schools and universities, there will be small-group workshops on specific teaching and learning issues in all Classical subjects.

Thanks to the generous support of the Classical Association, attendance is free, and we would like to invite teachers of Classics, or teachers who would like to introduce Classics as a new subject in their school. Student teachers are also welcome to attend. Below is the provisional programme for the day.

10.15-11.00     Prof. Mark Humphries (Swansea University): Tackling the written sources in Ancient History
11.00-11.45     Dr Fiona Mitchell  (UWTSD Lampeter): Making the most of visual sources in Classical Civilisation
11.45-12.30     Dr Sonya Nevin (Roehampton University): the Panoply project, bringing ancient vases to life
12.30-1.15      Lunch (provided)
1.15-1.45       Lucy  Roberts  (Wyedean School): Getting Classics on the curriculum
