2 May 2014 - 5 July 2014

Rome: from city to empire – a weekend course from 2–4 May

This course will introduce you to ancient Rome from its origins to the early 4th century AD. You will be able to explore how Rome evolved from an urban metropolis to an imperial capital and discover how the key public buildings in Rome, Ostia and Tivoli reflect the city’s changing nature.

Our weekend courses begin with dinner on Friday and end after lunch the following Sunday. Meals from Madingley Hall’s award-winning kitchen are included in the course fee, which is £240. However, teachers from state-funded schools may be eligible for a £100 bursary, courtesy of Cambridge University Press, which will reduce the price to £140.

Bed and breakfast at Madingley Hall is available for course weekends for an additional £110, or £90 per person for two people sharing.

Bookings can be made online, by emailing or by calling 01223 746262.
