OCR A Level Classical Civilisation 2 months, 1 week agoI wonder if anyone could recommend a commentary for Plautus’ Miles Gloriosus? It is one of the set texts for the OCR Comedy Unit and as it is a play I don’t know a lot about, I am worried I might miss something when teaching it Thanks in advance!

OCR A Level Classical Civilisation 6 months agoComic Drama: Is anyone teaching the OCR Classical Civilisation Comic Drama module who would be willing to help with some advice and to share resources? I don’t usually teach this module and would really appreciate some context questions and essays (preferably with a mark scheme!) so that I could get some idea of what sort of questions might be…[Read more]

In reply to: Stephen Jenkin posted an update in the group General Questions Please, if you have time, read the following discussion on a recent post and contribute your thoughts! Thanks! Stephen **Catharine Jessop commented […] ViewHi Stephen. I certainly wouldn’t feel bad about paying. This site is often a lifeline to me with all its wonderful resources and also the way it helps put teachers in touch with each other so that we can share our expertise. There aren’t many ways out there for Classics teachers to share things and discuss and it can feel lonely sometimes. I…[Read more]

In reply to: Angela Bush posted an update in the group GCSE Classical Civilisation Hi. I have a question about controlled assessment (OCR). Just checking that word processed work is allowed? I have read all the guidance and it […] ViewYep, word processed work is allowed. We have submitted it for the past two years with no problems. Just one thing to be aware of – make sure you fasten the work with treasury tags! We were mildly told off for not using treasury tags!

In reply to: Julie Wolseley posted an update in the group GCSE Latin just wondering what people thought of the GCSE Language papers. ViewI remember thinking that there was a piece of grammar in the second one which was not specified as something they needed to do, but now I have forgotten what it was…will have to wait until I am back in school to check. I think it might have been an ablative of comparison if memory serves me correctly.

In reply to: Stephen Jenkin posted an update HELP! Quick question. I’ve altered the style slightly of the AS/A2 Latin Literature resources page. I’m trying to make the text bigger for people. Please have a look and let me know […] ViewAh I saw the email but hadn’t had the time to have a proper look – that’s a good idea. As for name…I’ll let someone more creative think of that!

In reply to: Stephen Jenkin posted an update HELP! Quick question. I’ve altered the style slightly of the AS/A2 Latin Literature resources page. I’m trying to make the text bigger for people. Please have a look and let me know […] ViewHa ha fair enough. When you explain it that way, it makes sense and I can completely understand why you like it separately. However, when I have another set of comprehensions to upload, maybe I will email them to you in one go, if that’s ok?
Keep up the good work. It’s a fab site, been a lifesaver for me many many times! I can’t believe it has…[Read more] -

In reply to: Stephen Jenkin posted an update HELP! Quick question. I’ve altered the style slightly of the AS/A2 Latin Literature resources page. I’m trying to make the text bigger for people. Please have a look and let me know […] ViewIt certainly looks nice and clear to me!
By the way, while I’ve got your attention (!) is there an easy way to upload multiple resources to the library? I had several comprehensions to upload earlier and I found I had to do each one individually. This wasn’t a problem in itself, but it meant I had to retype the information and my email address…[Read more] -

In reply to: Cressida Ryan posted an update in the group A Level Latin: I’m teaching a private student for A2 (Tacitus and Virgil). Does anyone have any advice about stuff I could do with him? We’ve read the set texts and […] ViewWhy is he doing it if he doesn’t feel that literature is important either for its own sake or for the history and ideas that it can reveal? And if he truly resents the fact that Latin isn’t taught as a spoken language, how about making him do some English to Latin – this will provide some intellectual stimulation and also might make him…[Read more]
