The BMCA is holding two events this half term.

26-30 September: Black Classicists: from Ostracism to Scholarship

This exhibition, curated by Professor M.V. Ronnick in the US, shines a light on the work of African-American Classicists who broke down barriers of colour in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They wrote Greek and Latin textbooks, lectured widely and published extensively. 

The exhibition will be on display at Solihull School, Solihull, B91 3DJ, and can be viewed can be viewed on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 September 2pm-4pm, and on Thursday 29 September, 10am-12pm.

13 October: Black Classicism: terms, methods and key figures

The BMCA Autumn lecture will tie in with the exhibition. The lecture will be given by Dr Elena Giusti, Warwick University, on Thursday 13 October, 5.30-6.30pm, and Dr Giusti will be discussing ‘Black Classicism: terms, methods, and key figures’. The lecture will also be held at Solihull School.
