0.30-11.15 Discussion Workshop 1: Getting Started
Naomi Bradshaw (Notting Hill and Ealing High School) and Ana Henderson (Loughborough Grammar School) will lead two discussion workshops, each focussed on getting started.
This workshop is an opportunity to reflect on making the change, why it’s worth it, and how to manage the transition smoothly.
11.35-12.20 Discussion Workshop 2: Flexibility and Accessibility
Laura Warren (Queenswood School) and Angela Cheetham (de Romanis author, Bedford Modern School) will lead two discussion workshops, each focussed on the core pedagogical principles behind de Romanis’ design: flexibility and accessibility.
This workshop is an opportunity to discuss how to get the best from the flexibility offered by the course and how to make materials more or less challenging in a way that caters for your classes’ needs.
2.30-1pm de Romanis Book 3: Scriptores
Katharine Radice (lead author for de Romanis, Parkside Community College) will outline the details of de Romanis Book 3, planned for publication in 2025.

1.45-2.30pm Discussion Workshop 3: What’s left when the lesson ends?
Dom Jones and Dr Sonya Kirk (de Romanis author, Chesterton Community College) will lead two discussion workshops, each focussed on what happens when the schemes of work have finished: what are students left with as takeaway knowledge / skills and what difference does the course make for those students continuing to GCSE and beyond?
This workshop is an opportunity to think about the transferable language literacy skills developed by de Romanis and the impact of the cultural context covered by the course.
2.40-3.15pm Final thoughts: conclusions and next steps
Katharine Radice will chair a round-table discussion, focussed on the headline conclusions from the days’ sessions. This discussion will face forwards to the course’s development and reflect on ways to best support departments in using de Romanis and how to develop the course further.
