What the Stoics can teach us about living through the Covid-19 crisis
A Lawyers Group Event
with Professor A. C. Grayling, hosted by Sir Rupert Jackson.
Thursday 11 March | 18:00 GMT
Stoicism was the ethical outlook of educated people in the Hellenic and Roman periods of classical antiquity for over 500 years, and remained influential among many of the same kind perpetually thereafter, having a major influence in the 18th century Enlightenment also. It was the ethics of practical, mature-minded people, and provided a powerful aid to lives as different as those of Marcus Aurelius, an emperor, and Epictetus, a slave. In this talk, Professor A. C. Grayling will explore what the philosophy of Stoicism can teach us about living through times of crisis.
