DESCRIPTION:Athens and the 5th century intellectual revolution – an online course beginning 21 April \nIn the fifth century BC\, the ancient Greeks developed a new way of understanding the world. This breakthrough inspired art\, science\, religion and philosophy that changed the world and laid the foundations of the modern era. This course studies both the intellectual revolution and the extraordinary society which produced it. \nVisit www.ice.cam.ac.uk/athens \nOur weekend courses begin with dinner on Friday and end after lunch the following Sunday. Meals from Madingley Hall’s award-winning kitchen are included in the course fee\, which is £240. However\, teachers from state-funded schools may be eligible for a £100 bursary\, courtesy of Cambridge University Press\, which will reduce the price to £140. \nBed and breakfast at Madingley Hall is available for course weekends for an additional £110\, or £90 per person for two people sharing. \nBookings can be made online\, by emailing admissions@ice.cam.ac.uk or by calling 01223 746262.

SUMMARY:Medea in Greek at St Paul's Girls' School
DESCRIPTION:Following in the steps of last year’s Electra\, and Antigone the year before\, the classical students of St Paul’s Girls’ School are mounting a production of Euripides’s Medea in Greek\, for one night only. \nThe performance\, which is abridged but fully staged\, with surtitles\, will take place at 6.00 pm on Wednesday 2nd April in the Singing Hall. It will last for about 40 minutes. Refreshments will be available from 5.30 pm. \nThe address of the school is Brook Green\, London\, W6 7BS; main telephone 020 7603 2288. The nearest tube is Hammersmith. \nThere is a nominal charge of £1\, payable at the door. However\, places are limited and it is essential to book seats in advance. If you or any pupils from your school would like to attend\, please email gregory.wilsdon@spgs.org with expected numbers as soon as possible\, and certainly by Monday 31st March.
