SUMMARY:JACT Greek and Latin Summer School\, University of Durham
DESCRIPTION:St John’s College\, University of Durham\, 19th – 26th July 2014 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis summer school is for all ages over 16\, from sixth form students to lifelong learners. With accommodation in an extremely attractive college very close to the cathedral\, we enjoy working hard in a delightful environment. \nCourses will be offered in both languages at five levels from beginners to advanced with three one-hour sessions each day. In the evenings there will be lectures and other events\, and there will be optional afternoon classes on various topics such as grammar or metre\, as well as a trip to Hadrian’s Wall. \nWe are likely to be able to offer a number of bursaries thanks to the subsidies from our sponsors. \nAgain this year: 38 en suite rooms (for an extra £12 per night) in a new building. \nExtra advanced classes in 2014. \nFurther details and application forms are available on our website www.jact.org/durhamss/index.html or www.greeklatinsummerschooldurham.org. \nApplication forms are available now for online\, postal or email application. \nThe Summer School is no longer run by Sunderland University. The North East Centre for Lifelong Learning closed at the end of September 2013. DESCRIPTION:Classics CPD\, durham\, July 2014\nAt the ARLT SumMer school \n\nINSET for practising teachers\, run by practising teachers\nA wide choice of options\, covering all key stages\, offering resources and advice \nTalks from leading academics\nVisit sites or museums \nSocialising with other classicists and teachers \n\nThis year’s Summer School will be held at St John’s College\, Durham\, between 26th and 31st July 2014. For a modest fee of £375 (residential price)\, you will have a week full of exciting option groups led by practising teachers on a huge variety of topics\, lectures by academics from Durham\, Oxford\, Warwick and more\, activities with fellow Classicists and the chance to visit Hadrian’s wall or Binchester. \nThe location offers modern and comfortable accommodation in newly opened facilities\, which are only a free bus ride away from the city centre.
