Please see the programme for the day below. \nBirmingham and Midlands Classical Association Teachers’ Day \nSaturday 4 February 2016 \n9.30 – 9.45: Arrival and coffee \n9.45 – 11.00: Introduction to the new GCE and GCSE specifications in Classical Civilisation & Ancient History (Alex Orgee and Caroline Bristow\, OCR Subject Specialists – Classics) \n11.00 – 11.45: Studying ancient women and the use of scholars in candidate responses (Caroline Bristow\, OCR Subject Specialist – Classics) \n11.45 – 12.00: Coffee break \n12:00 – 1:00: Eduqas: Delivery on the new Latin GCSE specification Teaching strategies: engaging all abilities (Alan Clague\, WJEC Subject Officer – Latin) \n1:00 – 2.00: Lunch \n2.00 – 3.00: Tacitus: Annals I and IV (Dr Ed Bispham\, University of Oxford) \n3.00 – 4.00: Elegiac Poetry (Dr Elena Theodorakopoulos\, University of Birmingham) \n4.00 – 4.30: Tea\, final questions and departure \nPlease contact Joanna Johnson at Solihull School (JohnsonJ@SolSch.org.uk) to register your interest. \nThe cost of the event is £30 per attendee which can be paid on the day. Receipts can be supplied after the event. Schools do not need to be a member of the Birmingham and Midlands Classical Association to attend. \nWe would also like to draw your attention to our other events next term: \nThe BMCA January Lecture \nAt 5.30pm on Thursday 19 January 2017\, Henrietta van der Blom will be speaking on Cicero \nThe BMCA Texts and Topics Conference \nSaturday 11 March 2017: a variety of speakers on the texts and topics that are being studied at A Level in both Latin and Classical Civilisation  \nA Special Event! \nAt 5.30pm on Thursday 16 March 2016\, Natalie Haynes ‘Honour amongst Thebes’. \nWe very much look forward to seeing you and your students at our events.
