DESCRIPTION:Thursday 19th March \n \n\nFrom the University of Leeds…\n\n \n\nThe Classics Competition has run for over 70 years at the University of Leeds\, and is a celebration of Classics\, Reading and Performance for young people studying classics\, drama\, english\, and history. In addition to our annual Greek and Latin reading categories\, this year we are introducing Drama categories for KS3\, 4 and 5.\n\n \n\nAfter an optional hour-long launch workshop delivered in your school\, which will explore the given texts/topics of choice\, as well as provide hints and tips for our entrants\, students will join us on campus for some healthy competition in a supportive and encouraging environment. The competition runs from 17:00-19:30. On the afternoon of the competition\, we will also be running Classics and Drama workshops\, with limited spaces available.\n\n \nFurther information and to book.

All events take place in the Arts Building at the University of Birmingham.bmca\n\n \n\nThursday 19 March 2020: The Presidential Lecture\n\n \n\nThe President of the BMCA\, Natalie Haynes\, Classicist\, author and broadcaster\, will be talking about her latest book A Thousand Ships\, a retelling of the Trojan War from the women’s perspective.\n\n \n\nThis promises to be a very interesting and enjoyable talk\, and is open to all students studying Classical subjects at GCSE and A level\, as well as their teachers!
