DESCRIPTION:One last reminder on our Warwick School hosted INSET day on Tues 31st Jan on i) developments CSCP’s Amarantus project and ii) Suburani with special focus on book 2. (These will be presented by Caroline Bristow or Caroline Musgrove for Amarantus and Laila Tims for Suburani). The day will also likely be accompanied by a visit from the Hellenic Bookservice. \nThe provisional schedule is: \n\n9.30am – arrival\, refreshments\n10.00am – 12.30pm – Suburani (with a 30 minute break / Hellenic Bookservice in the middle somewhere)\n12.30-13.15pm – Lunch / Hellenic Bookservice\n13.45pm – 15.45pm – Amarantus (with a 30 minute break / Hellenic Bookservice in the middle somewhere)\n15.45pm – finish / time for any further questions\n\nIf you are interested in attending\, please email me on d.stephenson@warwickschool.org letting me know whether you wish to come all day or just for the morning or afternoon. There is no charge except possibly a nominal contribution to the hot buffet lunch (c. £10 per person but exact amount depending on who comes) if I cannot persuade Warwick to foot that.

Image: Web Gallery of Art\n\n \n\n*\n\n \n\nDidactic format\, linguistic requirements\, and course fees \n\n \n\nThe above four Renaissance Latin masterclasses\, which are focused on the reading (in the original Latin) and translation (into English) of a selection of four of the finest and most influential authors and Latin texts of the Italian Renaissance\, will consist of four weekly sessions of two hours each. During each session an author and a Latin text will be introduced and a passage from the latter distributed as ‘homework’ for the attendees to translate before the next session. The following week\, translations will be compared and corrected and the Latin text itself discussed\, both in terms of grammar and style and in terms of historical and cultural context.\n\n \n\nThose interested in attending the above masterclasses should note that a previous acquaintance with the Latin language is required to fully engage with the Latin texts. However\, enthusiastic Latinists who are relatively new to the language and those wishing to learn more about the authors and texts presented are also welcome.\n\n \n\nThe above Renaissance Latin masterclasses will take place online via Zoom and will each cost £120 per attendee (£100 per attendee for full-time students)\, plus an administration fee of £20 per person for the academic year 2022-23.
