DESCRIPTION:      \nEgypt and Mesopotamia (modern Iraq; ancient Sumer\, Assyria and Babylon) bequeathed to posterity some of the most fascinating remains from all of the ancient world. \nAt Cambridge\, Egyptology and Assyriology are based in the Department of Archaeology where you can study the archaeology\, cultures and languages of one or both of these fascinating ancient civilisations in all three years as an undergraduate student. \nJoin us for our Egyptology and Assyriology Study Day\, kindly hosted by Emmanuel College\, on Thursday\, 17 January to discover more about these subjects at Cambridge through lectures\, language and artefact sessions. \nAttendance is free\, but booking is required. \nBOOK HERE  \nBooking closes 19 December. \nFor Year 12 students\, parents\, teachers\, HE advisers and mature students. \nIn some cases travel bursaries may be available. SUMMARY:Warwick Ancient Drama Festival 2019 Aristophanes' Frogs
DESCRIPTION:The students and staff at the University of Warwick Department of Classics and Ancient History would like to invite teachers and students to our Annual Ancient Drama Festival for Schools on Friday 25 January 2019. The day will focus around a performance of Aristophanes’ Frogs\, directed by Kelsi Russell. The play will be produced by the Classics students at Warwick and will be performed at the Warwick Arts Centre. \nFor more information\, please check out our production webpage: \nhttps://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/classics/research/outreach/dramafestival/frogs/ \nSupporting the performance\, the Department is offering a series of lectures and seminars specifically for school students to link in with Latin\, Greek\, Classical Civilisation\, Ancient History\, Drama and English syllabuses at GCSE and AS/A2 (no previous knowledge of the subject area or play will be expected). Marshall (Professor of Classics\, University of British Columbia) ‘Aristophanic comedy: serious laughter?’\nDr David Fearn (Reader in Greek Language and Literature): ‘Aristophanes Up Close’ (seminar-workshop)\nDr Marchella Ward (Archivist/Researcher\, Archive of Performances of Greek and Roman Drama\, University of Oxford) ‘Staging Aristophanic Comedy’\n\nThe day will begin at 11am and finish at 5pm. The event is FREE\, but attendees are asked to organise their own transportation and lunch.
