SUMMARY:Pompeii: In Conversation with Dr Sophie Hay & Professor Tom Harrison
DESCRIPTION:This lecture will be open to any year group\, and is aimed at a general audience about life\, society\, and culture of the Roman world\, and would be great for students who study Latin\, Ancient History\, or Class Civ. Not open to the general public.\n\n \n\nCoutts Lecture in Classics\, Tuesday 3 March\, 5-6pm\n\n \n\nHarrow Classics department in partnership with the Classical Association\n\n \n\n“Pompeii: In Conversation with Dr Sophie Hay & Professor Tom Harrison”\n\n \n\nIn discussion with Professor Tom Harrison of the British Museum\, Dr Sophie Hay draws on her extensive work at Pompeii to explore how archaeologists reconstruct ancient lives from fragmentary evidence. Moving beyond the familiar story of volcanic catastrophe\, the conversation examines houses and streets\, voices scratched into walls\, and the interpretative choices that shape what we think we know about the Roman world. Accessible\, wide-ranging\, and rooted in current scholarship\, this lecture is aimed at a general audience\, students\, and teachers with an interest in Classics\, archaeology\, and Ancient History.\n\n \n\nThere are tickets available free for school teachers and students to attend the lecture in person at Harrow School.\n\n \n\nIf you would like to come and visit Harrow School to attend the live lecture\, you are very welcome – just let me know by email how many students you are bringing\, completely free\, etc.\n\n \n\nOR if you are unable to attend in person\, but still want to watch\, you can also register for free our live webinar: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/b3e7929a-357a-4022-a702-e273a91910bf@96e31c50-d35a-48d1-9cbc-5abb51cb1688

SUMMARY:Classics for All FREE Online CPD: Running Classics Trips for Primary and Secondary Schools
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, 9th March 2026\n4–5pm\, Online\n \n\nRunning school trips both abroad and in the UK is an exciting enrichment opportunity for students\, and there is nothing quite like seeing places and artwork “live” that they have learnt about in books. I still remember the gasps of my students when they saw two statues in a museum in Greece that they had only seen a small\, black and white picture of in their textbook!\n\n \n\nHowever\, running and organising trips can feel quite over-whelming\, so hopefully this session will give ideas for trips\, reassurance\, and somewhere to start.\n\n \n\nAll details for the CPD can be found here\, along with the online signup form: https://www.canva.com/design/DAG-S449oVk/SJcdffJOR_ynAtP0ITOqIA/view?utm_content=DAG-S449oVk&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=h7f7c7089ff
