DESCRIPTION:British Museum free A level lunchtime lectures programme designed to support students and teachers taking Classical Civilisation or Ancient History A-level and other equivalent qualifications.\n\n \n\nWomen in ancient Iran with Vesta Curtis\, curator at the British Museum.\n\n \n\nIn ancient Iranian or Persian art\, representations of female figures are few and far between before the first century BC. However\, you can find out how a study of documents dating to the fifth century BC has shed light on the status of women in early Persian society.\n\n \n\nYou can also discover how\, after the conquest of Alexander of Macedon\, Parthian art of the first century BC to the third century AD – and the art of the succeeding Sasanian period until the seventh century AD – shows female figures in works of art\, such as on coins\, seals and rock-reliefs.\n\n \n\nDate: Friday 2 Dec 2022 at 13.00–14.00\n\n \n\nBritish Museum\, BP Lecture Theatre\n\n \n\nFREE\, advance booking essential.
