SUMMARY:St Albans Cathedral Latin Summer School
DESCRIPTION:Latin Summer School for beginners and post-beginners \nDates:  Week 1—Monday 28 July-Friday 1 Aug \nWeek 2—Monday 4 Aug-Friday 8 Aug \nTime:  10.00am-4.00pm \nCost:  £120/week (plus students will be asked to purchase a textbook) \nVenue:  St Albans Cathedral Study Centre \nTutor:  Dr Clare Coombe \nOver two weeks\, students will be taken through the fundamentals of Latin grammar\, leading up to reading simple or adapted texts by the end of the second week.  The first week will be suitable for those with little or no Latin\, whereas the second week would be suitable for those with a basic grasp of Latin grammar.  Students may enrol for one or both weeks\, and are encouraged to consult the tutor if they are not sure which level is suitable. \nThe course would provide an ideal basis for anybody who wants to learn Latin to support future studies in Classics\, Theology\, or Medieval Studies\, but is also suitable for those who just want to learn for fun.  During the course\, which is taught in venues in and around the Cathedral\, there will also be opportunities for students to learn a little about the history of the Abbey and the use of Latin in Church\, in these most fitting surroundings! \nThere is no accommodation at the Cathedral\, but if you will require accommodation in St Albans during the Summer School\, please contact us and we will try to assist you. \nFor more information\, see our website:  http://www.stalbanscathedral.org/learning/study-centre/summer-school or email studycentre@stalbanscathedral.org.
