Classics for All is a small national charity founded in 2010 to reverse the decline in the teaching of Classics in state schools. Classics for All has supported 800 schools so far to teach Classics, reaching 50,000 pupils, and aims to reach 1,000 schools within the next two years. Demand from schools to offer Classical subjects has increased fivefold since the charity began in 2010.
You’ll be joining our charity as we scale up our operations, and you’ll be responsible for supporting the executive director and rest of the team in general administration including events, finance and fundraising. You will also dedicate one day a week to our grants programme data and monitoring. It’s an excellent opportunity for a self-starter to be part of a young and pioneering classics organisation committed to giving state school pupils the opportunity to study classical subjects. The charity is expanding its staff due to increased demand from schools; we require increased administration and fundraising activity to support this.
We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude who can co-ordinate and manage a variety of responsibilities. You must have excellent communication, organisational, writing and people skills: the job requires accurate record-keeping, communicating with our donors and supporters and being first point of contact for the organisation on the phone, email and at events.
As administrator you’ll be based in our office, located within the King’s College London Strand campus (within the Classics departments), five days a week. Part of your role will be managing events so you’ll be expected to work up to seven evenings during the year.
Full time role, five days per week with some flexibility in hours.
Salary basis £20,000 with 5% employer pension contribution.
Location: office (King’s College London, Strand campus).
