Salary: Main Scale/ NQT
Required: September 2019

Harris Academy Chafford Hundred is an outstanding school with an excellent reputation. It is an oversubscribed 11-18 school where staff are supported to become the best through an investment in excellent professional development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated Classics teacher to join our new, thriving and successful department.

Specifically, we are seeking to appoint from September 2019 a well-qualified and enthusiastic Classics teacher with the ability to teach both Latin and Classics in all three Key Stages in this lively, high- achieving and multicultural comprehensive school. Achievement in our Classics Department is very strong and our teaching inspires our pupils to develop a love of Latin, classical literature and culture. The Classics department will provide you with many opportunities to develop your subject knowledge and offer you autonomy to enrich the learning of classics in the school.

Applications from NQTs and from experienced teachers are equally welcome. The ability to contribute to the delivery of a second subject at KS3 would be advantageous.

Latin is taught from Year 7 for four hours per week and up to A- level. The numbers are expected to rise, leading to greater demand for A-Level in the near future.  Latin is also taught in Year 5-6 in the feeder primary School and, by next year, this will be extended to Year 4s. The post-holder may be expected to teach in the Junior School.

As a member of the Harris Federation of schools, we can offer:

  • Harris Allowance
  • Health Cash Plan
  • Harris Benefits

The Harris Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
