South Hampstead High School is seeking to appoint a dynamic, energetic and inspirational Teacher of Classics to join an exciting Classics Department with an excellent academic record.

Suitable candidates will be able to teach Latin and Classical Civilisation from beginners’ level to A-Level and beyond. You will teach according to the pupils’ educational needs, assess, record and report on their development and organise and participate in extra-curricular activities.

The ability to teach Classical Greek would be an advantage. The ideal candidate will be

a qualified teacher, with a proven track record, however, applications would also be welcome from NQTs and those looking to begin a career in teaching

Classics at South Hampstead High School

The Classics Department is well resourced and members of the department are extremely supportive of one another and regularly share resources and experiences.

The department offers a full and exciting extra-curricular programme to encourage pupils to fuel their passion and deepen their understanding of the Classical world. Annual overseas visits are organised to Classical sites in Italy, Greece, Turkey and France, in addition to UK visits to Bath, St. Albans and Fishbourne Roman Palace. The department regularly promotes theatre trips to watch Classical plays and organises a number of visits to a range of galleries and museums in London and Oxford.
