Teacher of Classics
Temporary and part time
For 1 September 2019
The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London. The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work. The bright, creative and motivated students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support. Subjects within the Classics department are highly popular and outstanding examination results are achieved.
We currently seek to appoint a well-qualified and passionate Teacher of Classics to join an experienced and successful department of six. This is a fixed purpose (maternity cover) position for the equivalent of between 0.4 and 0.6 of a full timetable, depending on the preference of the appointed candidate. The contract will terminate when the permanent post-holder returns from maternity leave.
The delivery of the subject has a strong focus on skills development and independent learning. Applicants must have the ability to teach throughout the school. In the Sixth Form, we offer Classical Civilisation, Ancient History, Greek and Latin A-Levels, and also Greek and Latin in the IB Diploma Programme. As this is a temporary position, it is not expected that the post-holder would need to teach all of these subjects in addition to the lower school teaching.
All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.

There is no closing date for this position.
Applications will be considered on receipt and interviews may occur at any stage.
The advert will be removed when an appointment has been made.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
