Latin AS and A2 Masterclass

                with Dr Rob Cromarty

                Tuesday 16th October 2012

Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire RG45 7PU

A one-day CPD event designed primarily for teachers approaching the OCR Latin syllabus for the first time, although more experienced teachers are also most welcome.

Cost: £50 / delegate

Registration: 9.15-9.30 a.m.

The day will be divided into four main sessions:

  • Registration
  • Introduction
  • Session 1: Language and Literature – The Great Divide between AS and A2
  • Session 2: Prose Literature (AS: Cicero; A2: Tacitus)
  • Lunch
  • Session 3: Verse Literature (AS: Ovid; A2: Virgil)
  • Session 4: Plenary

The intention is to make the day as inclusive and ‘hands-on’ as possible so we will provide delegates with packs of candidate sample papers, exemplar lesson plans, examples of teaching resources which will facilitate activities throughout the day. The hope is that the day will provide ample opportunities for the exchange of ‘best practice’ and some useful ‘networking’ contacts.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet pupils who are currently studying the AS and A2 courses here at Wellington as part of the introductory session.

Should anyone wish to visit the department or other teachers at the College, there will also be opportunities to do so during the day.
