Liverpool Classics Hub

The Liverpool Classics Hub

The Liverpool Classics Hub (South West) was created in October 2016, with a grant from Classics for All, to promote and coordinate the teaching and learning of Classical Civilization, Greek, and Latin at all levels in Liverpool.

The hub is based in Liverpool College, an all through co-educational academy based in south Liverpool, which has recently reintroduced Latin and Classical Civilization.  We are working closely with Liverpool University Schools Classics Project to support and develop their outreach work in secondary schools.  The hub is also organizing its first round of Minimus latin training for Liverpool Primary teachers in February.

The hub encourages the take-up of classical subjects in schools where there is no current provision, but also supports and strengthens the pre-existing provision of classical subjects in schools throughout Liverpool. There are also opportunities to train as Classics/Latin teachers in Liverpool through the School Direct Programme.

The Liverpool Classics hub will provide a central point for all Classics activity in schools across Liverpool.
