New MA in Classical Studies at The Open University

Registration is open for the new MA in Classical Studies, a two-year qualification which admitted its first students in October 2014. The materials – both purpose-written, and the supporting images and readings – are all available online so you can study them from anywhere in the world, fitting the MA around work and other responsibilities. As with all our courses, you have a tutor who will help you throughout each module.

The 60-credit first year foundation module focuses on the question ‘How do we know what we know?’ From the October 2015 presentation, this will comprise compulsory opening and concluding blocks with a choice of two out of three of the following blocks: Greek and Latin – the languages of love and betrayal; Classical Archaeology; and Classical Reception (focusing on the Trojan Women). The 120-credit second year comprises the subject module on The Ancient Body – a topic chosen to allow interdisciplinary study of a range of types of evidence, as well as to reflect our department’s research expertise – and a dissertation on a subject of your choice.
