Queens of Syria Screening: free for sixth form students and their teachers
On Thursday 18th October at 7pm, Godolphin and Latymer School will be hosting an event to tell the story of ‘Queens of Syria’, the project in which a number of Syrian refugee women put on their own version of Euripides’ Trojan Women. The evening will start with a screening of the award-winning 70 minute documentary about the project, and this will be followed by a question and answer panel consisting of one of the actors, the executive producers, and an academic classicist. You can see a three minute trailer of the documentary here: https://vimeo.com/86996865
Although this event is a fundraiser which is ticketed for members of the public (£15), we are making it free to all sixth form school pupils and accompanying teachers. If you would be interested in bringing a group to this event (or of sending pupils unaccompanied, which is fine), please email James Renshaw: firstname.lastname@example.org. We do need a list of students’ names in advance. Please do encourage your students to come, it should be a wonderful opportunity for students of any classical subject at A Level.
