News from Oxford University Classics Outreach…
Lady Margaret Hall is pleased to announce a pilot scheme offering a Foundation Year to students from under-represented backgrounds, starting in the Autumn of 2016. The pilot scheme will see LMH taking a dozen students in a variety of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences who may not otherwise have the opportunity to undertake degree course studies at the University of Oxford for socio-economic reasons. LMH will give them the teaching and support that will ready them to progress to a full matriculated degree course. The students LMH will seek to recruit will be mainly from the same target groups Oxford University has made a priority in its Access Agreement with OFFA, the Government’s Office for Fair Access.
The scheme accepts applications in Classics, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, Classics & English, and Classics & Modern Languages (French or Spanish). One place is available for Classics (Course II) or Classics & Joint Schools, and another for Classical Archaeology and Ancient History.
We would be grateful if you could forward this message to any schools or eligible candidates that you think might be interested. The application deadline for the 2016/17 round is 6 June 2016. For any queries about the course, please contact the Foundation Year Coordinator, Dr Jo Begbie, at email@example.com.
