12 March 2022 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm
Free

March 12, 2022 11:00 am – 2:30 pm

Lessons from lockdown: reflecting on the teaching of Classical Civilisation at GCSE and A-Level, both in the classroom and online.

About this event

The Classical Association Teaching Board presents a free online event which offers teachers the opportunity to reflect on and share best practice of the teaching of Classical Civilisation at GCSE and A-Level, both in the classroom and online.

Participants will be given links to pre-recorded materials and will then be invited to join two sessions where the contributors, led by Rob Hancock-Jones, will facilitate the sharing of teaching strategies and resources, and answer any questions on their respective topics. Participants will be encouraged to share their teaching resources, which will then be made available to all who attend at the end of the day.

The event will also include an opportunity for teachers to engage with the Classical Association’s qualifications review, following the joint CA/CfA survey undertaken at the end of the 2021. The CA’s Education Co-ordinator, Gráinne Cassidy, will talk broadly on the aims of the review and the outcomes of the survey, before providing teachers with the chance to suggest practical ideas for change to the GCSE and A-Level specifications. Participants will also be able to register their interest in being part of the review long-term.

The day will be led by practising teachers, but will be relevant both to experienced practitioners, and those new to teaching Classical Civilisation.
