WCN A. G. Leventis Ancient Worlds Day: Epic Worlds

Spaces are also available for the Warwick Classics Network A. G. Leventis Ancient Worlds Day 2023, which will take place on Wednesday 28th June here on the Warwick campus, with the theme of ‘Epic Worlds’. This event will take topics covered in the Classical Civilisation and Ancient History GCSE and A-level curricula and will expand upon these in new directions, looking especially at ancient Greek and Roman epic and the world of the heroes, drawing on our lecturers’ specialities and interests. The talks will expand the horizons of the attendees, further deepening their appreciation of the ancient world. The talks will be pitched at A-level and GCSE students primarily, though if schools are keen on bringing younger students please email me at Paul.Grigsby@Warwick.ac.uk and I will be able to advise on the level of the content. Schedule (tbc) 10.30 – 11.15am Prof Emmanuela Bakola – ‘Greek Epic in Tragedy’ 11-15-12.00pm Prof Zahra Newby – ‘Epic in Greek and Roman Art: the Trojan War’ Break 12-12.15 12.15-1.00pm – Prof Michael Scott – ‘Does epic work for us?
