Classics Abroad 2023: Summer Course in Florence

We are delighted to open applications for Classics Abroad in Florence, our 5^th annual summer course devoted to classical antiquity and the history, literature and art of Renaissance Florence.

This course is open to all, 18 years and older, who have academic or personal interests in Classics and the city of Florence. Our summer dates are: Monday 5 – Saturday 8 July 2023.

Applications are now open and there is an ‘early bird’ rate available until 14 April.

Any help to spread the word would be much appreciated: such as printing out our flyer for your classroom/noticeboard or forwarding it to your students or networks.

Classics Abroad 2023 Summer Course

The creation of classical antiquity

Overview

Join us in Florence to explore the transmission of classical antiquity through the history, literature, art and culture of Renaissance Florence. This course is a dynamic combination of interactive seminars, a hands-on art workshop and visits to museums, galleries and libraries. With a strong focus on classical and Renaissance primary sources, you will strengthen your independent research skills, gain a fundamental insight into the classical tradition and engage with brilliant figures from Florentine history.

Pre-Requisites

An open mind! Previous study of classical authors is helpful but not required. It will be of particular benefit to students curious to learn about the transmission of classical texts, ideas and artwork beyond what is typically taught at school or university.
