The ARLT Latin Reading Competition
The texts for the Reading Competition have now been announced, and registration is open. The competition is free to enter, and a great opportunity for your students to be loud about Latin and enjoy the texts in a lively way.
There is plenty of support on our website to help you prepare your students, and it is a great opportunity to participate in a long-standing tradition. It also happens to be a fabulous chance to show your subject is relevant, and a great source of supercurricular opportunities too!

Annual Refresher Day: CPD for Teachers by Teachers
The ARLT Refresher Day on March 14 is now open for registration. As we are meeting at Westminster School, which is a particularly central and accessible location, spaces are likely to fill up quickly. Please make arrangements early to avoid disappointment.
You can read more about the Refresher Day on our website, but here are some of the highlights you can expect:
- 13 options groups over 3 sessions (including language, literature and classical civilisation)
- 2 lectures (Dr B. Xinyue on Virgil and Prof. J. Clackson on Petronius)
- Membership of the ARLT
- Access to all the resources shared on the day
- Networking over a fantastic lunch in beautiful surroundings (with an optional Latin speakers’ corner)
- Hellenic Bookservice
No matter where you are in the teaching journey, whether you are an aspiring teacher or an experienced practitioner, the day will be an opportunity to raise the profile of the subject, be part of our lively community of professional teachers, and celebrate and further the impact of the subject.
