INSET FOR CLASSICS TEACHERS
What is the ARLT Summer School for Classics teachers?
The ARLT Summer School for Classics teachers is a residential CPD course and networking event that brings together teachers at all stages of their careers. Every year, practising teachers, PGCE students, prospective teachers, and experienced retired teachers meet to celebrate their love for Latin, Greek, and all things Classics.
Where will the 2026 Summer School take place?
Giggleswick School is a boarding and day school set on the border of the glorious Yorkshire Dales. The school is a 5 minute drive or 25 minute walk from Settle train station and for those driving it is just off the A65.
Accommodation is available for residential guests in single rooms with shared bathroom facilities. There will also be the opportunity to use the tennis courts.
What does the programme include?
- Lectures
- Practical workshops: language tuition, spoken Latin, set texts, Roman crafts, teaching and learning training, and more
- Networking opportunities, including entertainment and an optional Latin-speaking table during meals.
Is it only for Latin, or is it suitable for those focusing on Classical Civilisation and Ancient History?
