Athens and the 5th century intellectual revolution – an online course beginning 21 April

In the fifth century BC, the ancient Greeks developed a new way of understanding the world. This breakthrough inspired art, science, religion and philosophy that changed the world and laid the foundations of the modern era. This course studies both the intellectual revolution and the extraordinary society which produced it.

Our weekend courses begin with dinner on Friday and end after lunch the following Sunday. Meals from Madingley Hall’s award-winning kitchen are included in the course fee, which is £240. However, teachers from state-funded schools may be eligible for a £100 bursary, courtesy of Cambridge University Press, which will reduce the price to £140.

Bed and breakfast at Madingley Hall is available for course weekends for an additional £110, or £90 per person for two people sharing.
