This event is open to students of Latin, ancient Greek and Classical Civilisation from Year 10 and above. The Symposium will begin at 4pm and will end at 6pm. There will be a break for refreshments between the two talks.
FHRP is delighted to welcome two fantastic speakers for our 2025 Symposium: Professor Melissa Lane, and Dr Daisy Dunn. Melissa Lane is Professor of Politics at Princeton University and specialises in ancient Greek and Roman political thought. Her talk is titled ‘Office and Accountability, from Ancient Greece to Grenfell Towers’, and explores the ethical challenges of holding office through the lens of Plato’s ‘Republic’. Dr Daisy Dunn is an award-winning author and Classicist who will be discussing her new book, ‘The Missing Thread: A New History of the Ancient World through the Women Who Shaped It’. There will be an opportunity to purchase signed copies of Daisy’s book after her talk.
