£10
From Zoe Boland at Tiffin School….   Date: Thursday 21st November 2025 Time: 5.00pm – 8.30pm Venue: Tiffin School We are very excited to announce the launch of our first GCSE Latin & Ancient World Olympiad, a table-quiz style event designed for Year 10 and 11 students from schools across the country. The quiz will run from 5.00pm until approximately 8.30pm. It will primarily focus on GCSE Latin and language-based skills, with rounds including grammar and prose comprehension. Alongside these, there will be bonus and additional questions on ancient history, mythology, and literature, as well as rounds presented in novel ways , using puzzles, games, and a wide range of activities . This will allow students of a wide range of abilities and talents to take part and enjoy the evening.

Key information

Teams must consist of four students in Year 10 and/or Year 11. Every team must be accompanied by a teacher. Teachers will be able to watch some of the quiz but will also be invited to enjoy tea, coffee, and use of our staffroom. Light refreshments will be available for students between rounds. The entry fee is £10 per team. There will be prizes on offer. The registration deadline is Friday 14th November at 5.00pm. At present, we are only able to accommodate one team per school, to keep the hall comfortable and ensure all participants are well accommodated. If you would like to bring a second team, please email to enquire. We have enabled a waitlist on Eventbrite. If places fill up, please join the waitlist, and we will contact you if space becomes available. Although the quiz is tailored to those studying GCSE Latin, a broader general knowledge of the ancient world will be an advantage. This is the first time we have run this event, and we are really looking forward to welcoming as many schools as possible to Tiffin. Booking is through Eventbrite by paying the entry fee. Further details will follow closer to the event. We hope you and your students will join us for what promises to be a challenging, enjoyable, and sociable evening, as students test their knowledge, meet others with similar interests, and celebrate their enthusiasm for the ancient world. Kind Regards, Z Boland Head of Department
