GCSE Latin & Ancient World Olympiad 2026

Tiffin School, Kingston upon Thames, England Friday 20 November  •  5 PM – 8:30 PM An evening of challenge and fun for GCSE Latin students, with language, myth, history, puzzles, prizes, and more. Please note you will need to fill in the Google form shared with you when booking within 1 week of paying on Eventbrite to secure your place. GCSE Latin & Ancient World Olympiad Date: Friday 20th November 2026 Time: 5.00pm – 8.00pm Venue: Tiffin School We are delighted to announce that our annual GCSE Latin & Ancient World Olympiad will be running for the second time in 2026. This is a table-quiz style event designed for Year 10 and 11 students from schools across the country. The quiz will run from 5.00pm until approximately 8.30pm. It will primarily focus on GCSE Latin and language-based skills, with rounds including grammar and prose comprehension. Alongside these, there will be bonus and additional questions on ancient history, mythology, and literature, as well as rounds presented in novel ways , using puzzles, games, and a wide range of activities . This will allow students of a wide range of abilities and talents to take part and enjoy the evening. Key information:

• Teams must consist of four students in Year 10 or Year 11.
• Bookings can ONLY be made by the teacher responsible for organising the team.
• Every team must be accompanied by a teacher. Teachers will be able to watch some of the quiz but will also be invited to enjoy tea, coffee, and use of our staffroom.
• Light refreshments will be available for students between rounds.
• The entry fee is £15 per team. There will be prizes on offer.
• The registration deadline is Wednesday 11th November at 5.00pm.
• Initially, we are only able to accommodate 2 teams per school, to keep the hall comfortable and ensure all participants are well accommodated. We will ask you to indicate if you would like to enter more teams upon booking and we will contact you should space become available.
• We have enabled a waitlist on Eventbrite. If places fill up, please join the waitlist, and we will contact you if space becomes available.

Although the quiz is tailored to those studying GCSE Latin, a broader general knowledge of the ancient world will be an advantage. This is the first time we have run this event, and we are really looking forward to welcoming as many schools as possible to Tiffin. Booking is through Eventbrite by paying the entry fee.
