Abstract: The Homeric Odyssey explores a return to life and community after suffering trauma at war, at sea, and at home. Modern cognitive and clinical psychology can help us appreciate how deeply Greek epic understands the helplessness we suffer after repeated loss and how we can use stories to return to the world and rebuild our communities.
