Professor Tim Whitmarsh, who will begin as Professor of Greek Culture at Cambridge in September, will be coming to Cranleigh to give a talk about atheism, Greek tragedy and religion. This talk,
‘Oedipus the Atheist. New thoughts on Athenian tragedy and religion’
by one of the most innovative British classicists of his generation, will be of interest to pupils studying ancient Athens or tragedy in any form, but it will be especially aimed at those at sixth form level. The talk will also be of relevance to pupils studying ancient philosophy aspects of the Religious Studies A-level.
