Return of the Romans Days, 2nd and 3rd July

On Thursday 2nd July and Friday 3rd July, we are delighted to be holding a two day living history event, “Return of the Romans”.
The centre will host a series of Roman Cavalry shows, delivered by expert re-enactors Comitatus, as well as workshops, activities and lectures all themed on the Romans in Britain. An archaeologist will be running workshops on artefacts and exploring our artefact collection, Dr Philippa Williams and Dr Jane Harrison will be delivering talks on local Roman history, and a range of fun themed stalls and activities such as face-painting, mosaics, jugs and shield design will run across both days for community visitors and Cheney School students.
The following community events are now open for booking:
Thursday 2nd July, 2 – 3pm – Roman Re-Enactment Show (outdoor event), including activity stalls and face-painting
Friday 3rd July, 6 -7pm – community talk – Jane Harrison – “East Oxford in Roman Times” , including drinks and the opportunity to see our artefact collections
