Join British Museum staff and expert guest speakers at this study day for students aged 16+ which will support those studying A-level Classical Civilisation and Ancient History. Year 11 pupils who are interested in extending their knowledge and considering studying the relevant subjects at A-level are also welcome.
Programme overview
10.00–10.30: Registration in The Clore Centre for Education foyer
10.00–12.00: Opportunity to visit the Legion: life in the Roman army exhibition
12.00–12.30: Lunch slot reserved in the Ford Centre for Young Visitors
12.30–15.00: Presentations in the BP Lecture Theatre. Each presentation will last around 45 minutes.
- Legion: life in the Roman army, with Richard Abdy, Legion exhibition curator
- Roman Britain: life in an imperial province, with Dr Katharine Hoare, from the British Museum’s School and Young Audiences team
- Entertainment and Exploitation: Roman Culture in the Amphitheatre, with Dr Virginia L Campbell, Associate Lecturer at The Open University
