Toil and Trouble: Magic in Roman Britain – a community talk at the Iris Classics Centre at Cheney School

Adam Parker, excitable Roman archaeologist, is the Assistant Curator of Archaeology at the Yorkshire Museum and a part-time PhD Student with the Open University, investigating the archaeology of magic in Roman Britain. His presentation will introduce how people protected themselves from bad luck, demons and the ever present Evil Eye by using magical objects, lucky jewellery, spells, chants, and sexual imagery in the first to fourth centuries AD.

The talk is suitable for ages 13+ to adult.
