Oedipus and Agamemnon films at Library of Birmingham 26 Feb and 6 March

The University of Birmingham’s Department of Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology has collaborated with the new Library of Birmingham to show rarely seen screen versions of Sophocles’ Oedipus The King and Aeschylus’ Agamemnon, with casts including Ian Holm, Helen Mirren, Diana Rigg, and Patrick Stewart. There will be short introductory talks to accompany each show, and there is a public lecture by the curator of the series, Dr Amanda Wrigley on 12 March at the University of Birmingham.
