The Classical Association: Teaching Awards 2025

Each year, the CA is proud to award prizes of Β£500 to individuals or school/college-based projects whose work is felt to have had a significant and positive impact on the teaching of Classics in the UK. Our Awards recognise outstanding teaching and innovative pre-university education initiatives.

Our 2025 awards are sponsored by Cambridge University Press and part-sponsored by the National Extension College, with huge thanks for their generosity and ongoing support to celebrate the work of the classics teaching community.

Nominations generally fall into one of the following categories:
– Lifetime achievement
– Outstanding state sector initiative (part-sponsored by the NEC)
– Outstanding new teacher (in teaching for up to three years)
– Innovative pedagogy
– Making Classics more inclusive
– Promoting the study of the ancient world in schools/FE (sponsored by CUP)

Process and eligibility: Please note that nominations from last year won’t carry over to this year so please ensure you make your nomination via this form before the closing date – 2nd May 2025.

After the closing date, the Chairs, Education Co-ordinator and two members of the CA Teaching Board will draw up a shortlist to present to voting members of the Board who will decide on the winners. Winners will be invited to the annual CA Conference held during 11-13 July 2025 where the awards will be announced, and citations read out.
